In 2001, about 9 months after we got married, we moved to Houston, TX for Neil to return to college for a masters degree. As soon as we moved there, there were 2 tropical storms that caused a major flood, then 9/11 occurred. It took 4 months for Priscilla to get a job and in the meantime, both Neil and our daughter were full time college students. One day while Priscilla was still looking for a job, both of us watched a Daystar TV telethon where a preacher was asking for $1000 donations. We were running out of our savings but felt called to respond to this appeal and made a pledge. The bill came in and still no job, no way to pay it.
A couple of weeks later, we received a box by Special Delivery mail service containing $10,000 cash from one of our relatives! God GAVE us the $1000 to pay our pledge as the tithe (10%) on this money AND provided extra in our time of need!
The Bible says "And [God] Who provides seed for the sower and bread for eating will also provide and multiply your [resources for] sowing and increase the fruits of your righteousness [which manifests itself in active goodness, kindness, and charity]. II Corinthians 9:10 (Amplified Bible) We thought twice about sharing this story but we realize that for God to get the glory for what He did for us, we have to tell it. After all this time, we are still amazed.
